Born in Mexico, Jorge has a solid academic and professional background in the agri-food industry, specifically in the beef industry. Jorge has a B.Ag. from the ITESM in Mexico and an M.Sc. in Agriculture and Resource Economics from the University of Alberta – where he conducted research related to Foreign Direct Investment and Trade in the Canadian Agri-food industry.He's been a part of the beef industry since working in Mexico for the Tabasco's Cattleman Union (UGR), where he led the first boxed beef fabrication floor in the Mexican S.E. After obtaining his M.Sc., Jorge joined Cargill Foods (High River) as an Account Manager for Western Canada and later on became the Export Sales Manager for Rancher's Beef Ltd. As a part of the start up team there, he was instrumental in the development of an export oriented sales/marketing plan. He was also responsible for the Japanese sales program and worked in conjunction with the production team to develop proper product specifications required by Japanese customers. Jorge is also engaged in U.S. trade and has ongoing business relations with the Mexican food industry.
