A professional chef with CCC (Certified Chef de Cuisine) designation, Marty Carpenter began his career in foodservice with a professional cooking course at the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology, followed by a European-style apprenticeship. In 1992 he became Field Operations Manager for a restaurant chain, opening over 60 locations in five years. He moved from restaurant operations to the beef industry accepting a position with the Alberta Cattle Commission, focusing on marketing beef to the Foodservice trade. Moving over to lead the Beef Information Centre Domestic Foodservice team, Marty helped to lead the Foodservice Team in 2003 as it was named as Supplier of the Year by Canada's largest Food and Hospitality magazine. With BIC's expanded role in the U.S. market, Marty now leads a team of two other Meat Professionals as Senior Director, U.S. Market Development.
