E-Learning:

One of the biggest challenges foodservice distributors face today is product knowledge for their sales associates. Selling up to 15,000 different items, it's not hard to imagine that knowing the features and benefits of each item is an almost insurmountable task. Beef, as a category, poses additional challenges for sales reps because of it's unique complexity in terms of different cuts, applications and merchandising strategies.

In 2003, BIC launched the Distributor Education Program (DEP) to the trade. The program involved six modules covering: Beef Production, The Beef Carcass, Quality and Safety, Handling Cooking and Cutting, Selling and Merchandising, and Health and Nutrition. Each module was supported by an online test. Since its launch, over 4,000 sales reps and 45 companies have successfully completed DEP.

Keeping with technology and adapting to the high demands of the distribution sector, BIC has built on the success of DEP with its launch of e-Learning to the trade. This version takes advantage of the latest in e-learning technology to deliver an interactive training environment and is completely online. Available in both English and French, www.biclearn.com is completely customizable, always up-to-date, and an ongoing reference for reps once the training has been completed.
